Septic Clean Out Questions

What kind of septic work do you do?

BCSS is a septic pumping service. We work to remove waste from your septic tank as part of your regular septic tank maintenance.

How often does my septic tank require service?

The industry standard recommendation is to schedule a cleaning every 3 to 5 years for a full time household of 4.

This recommendation is an estimation, however, and service frequency is also greatly impacted by the following:

  • type of ground on the property- is the soil content on the property mostly clay, soil, or sand

  • location and distance of nearby water sources - is the property just off a river or on a beach

  • level of the tank on the overall property- does the property hold water

How do i know what kind of system i have?

Generally, Conventional style systems start as 1 tank but may have more ranging in size from 300 - 500 gallons per tank on average. Conventional systems work with field lines to disperse displaced water from the tank into the ground and may or may not include a pump.

Aerobic systems are multi tank systems, generally 3 but sometimes more, that work to separate waste from water. They use a pump and sprinklers to disperse the displaced water from your tank over the ground.

How Do i keep water from back-flowing into my home while waiting for my scheduled service?

Reduce your use! Remember that all outgoing water for your home leads to your septic system. The biggest sources of outgoing water are showers, washing machines, and dish washers. Reduce your water use by limiting the amount of outgoing water, pacing your use to allow your system to disperse what it can.

Rentals

How long is a rental period?

All rentals are based on a 28 day billing period for long term rentals, or up to 6 days for special events.

What is the difference between special event units and construction units?

Special event units are new, if not lightly used, units that are only used for short term events. They are the same general build as our long term rental units, and include a hand sanitizer dispenser.

Construction units are only used on construction sites and are stocked during their cleaning with new water and fresh smelling chemicals, toilet paper, and air freshener.

If I order a construction unit and don’t need it through the end of a billing period, am I billed for the whole 28 days?

BCSS will prorate any billing period after the first 28 day billing cycle.
